Jeep Wrangler 70th Anniversary Edition

A month ago, Seb and I went to a hardware store to buy a toilet seat and other stuff for the bathroom. As we were not far away from the Jeep dealership, we decided to take a look at the latest models before going back home, just for curiosity. The first model that I considered to look at was the Compass. Well, obviously, it's got better features than the one I have (Seb bought mine in 2007), Jeep redesigned it and I think it has now a close resemblance to Cherokee. But although it's got better features, it really didn't make me want to dream to buy it to replace my old one. I love my Compass and I intend to keep her for the longest time. But what really made me drool was the Wrangler Unlimited.

Okay, Jeep Wrangler had been a dream vehicle for me. I was still in high school when I told my friends that I didn't want an ordinary car, I wanted a 4x4 and if ever I get the chance to be given a car by a super duper rich person, I'd ask for a Wrangler. Friends would tell me that it's a "man's" car, that Wrangler looked so "masculine" I would look ridiculous driving it. Then I told them, "well that's the reason why I want it, I'd feel so secured in a Wrangler. It's as though a very muscled beau protecting me from harm.". Lol. Ever since, I got my brain fixed to the idea that one day, I'd be a proud Wrangler owner.

So back to the dealership. The model was a 2011 Unlimited, 70th anniversary edition. Ouhla, I got super thrilled -- imagining owning a legend vehicle and it being a special edition; convertible top, leather seats embroidered with 70th Anniversary logos and all... It was, how shall I describe it? "Hunky" and elegant. Yeah, I think those are the best adjectives I could use to describe it. We asked the dealership owner how long should we wait in case we want one, she said that that's the last one they got. It's a limited edition and Jeep won't fabricate anymore - good while supplies last. Purée, I think she meant, "buy it now before it's gone."

The owner put us in a situation that called for an instant decision. I haven't heard of someone buying a thing this big on the spot. One would normally contemplate first on purchases like this one, right? We weren't just buying a frying pan, "ok, it's non-stick, I'll get it.". No, it's a decision usually fully discussed and made at home, not in the store right in front of the seller. We told the owner it was impossible to make a decision right away as there were a lot of things to consider when making purchases like this and I think she kinda understood (after all, she had no choice). So we left the dealership with me having some kind of "weight" or "knot" on my chest. Gosh, I really wanted it.

So we did talk about it at home over dinner, and decided we'd buy it. Yes, that fast. I think we just fell in love with it. Late at night, I couldn't sleep I was constantly saying, "hope no one bought it, yet.", and my husband would say, "no, I don't think so. It's late and the dealer's closed already." But I was like, "yeah, but how about this afternoon or when we left, what if a buyer just entered after we left?". Pffff, I didn't sleep well that night.

So the next day, Wednesday, no classes for Clems, we returned to the dealership with her. From the parking lot I felt so relieved seeing the Wrangler still there. But then I thought, it didn't mean that it wasn't sold yet - that the buyer could just be picking it up after a day or two. So I was both nervous and excited when we entered the showroom. And when we got out of there minutes later, I was still nervous and excited but smiling from ear to ear.

So, presenting the hunky, sleek, not-just-an-ordinary-vehicle and a "big brother" to his "little sister", Compass (yeah, didn't I say I'll keep her?), the Jeep Wrangler 70th Anniversary edition.

Borrowed the photo above from the Net as I forgot to take a photo of it with its roof on.

Our lovely all smiles Cléms.
