My 'dear' "les changements"

I don't know if changing furnitures in our living room is really that necessary. There's nothing wrong with them actually, it's just that I want some changes. I know that we'll be spending a considerable amount of money so I don't know if it's really worth it, oh well...

Anyway, Seb and I started looking for a sectional sofa (the quality should be the same -- buffalo leather, just like what we have at the moment and this one will eventually be put in the master bedroom), a bigger television (the hubby has been eyeing that Sony 52" at Darty) and last Saturday we bought a sideboard/buffet, and it's larger and higher than we actually have and is made of 100% oak. We really made a good bargain, the original price was 2,690€ and since it's winter sale, we paid 936€. It's actually the kind of sideboard I've been looking for -- the quality, the right size, the right price. And it's gonna fit perfectly into the corner where I want it to be. It's just that we still don't know yet when they're going to deliver it (hopefully, this week or early next week). Now, have to take care of getting an oak dining table and chairs, too.

Regarding the sofa, we haven't decided yet if we're going to order it from DME (the boutique where we bought the sideboard) or from the maisonetconfort site. They both have the sofa we want. There's a big difference when it comes to price though, the website sells it at 1600€ while DME at 2990€, almost 90 % more expensive! Wow. Actually to make a decision where to buy it from is not that hard, the reason is quite obvious, it's just that Seb doesn't like it if he doesn't see or "feel" first the product before buying it (well I don't understand him, he already bought numbers of H. Davidson accessories from the web). But then yesterday, I asked him what if we try it ourselves searching the internet for this company that fabricates these sofas (the boutique DME has its catalog). That maybe by ordering from them directly will be more advantageous for us -- be less expensive. So we searched and searched and succeeded! The company is in Italy. We sent them a mail - inquired about the sofa we want, some specific details, etc. Then we received the response just a while ago, it's going to be in bigger dimension, buffalo leather and all... but of course, more expensive, 3290€. Well, well, well... que faire?

It's cold outside!

It's crazy how the weather has been. The cold is brutal! Seb (my husband) and I went out this morning to go shopping as I wanted to take advantage of the Winter Sales. But with the temperature we're having at the moment, shopping became some kind of an unpleasant task I even felt I wasn't in the mood to leave the house anymore. But he insisted that we also need to take a look at the sofa d'angle that we're eventually buying. Thing was I could hardly feel my fingers, it's really quite cold they went numb and so painful as though they would explode. So I put the car heater to its maximum and waited a little before putting the car into first gear.

I wonder how the people cope with this kind of weather particularly the ones who have been submerged in snow. It has been snowing for weeks in some parts of the country and the temperature continues to plunge. It has also been noted a minus 22°c somewhere in the south. Ah, I think we're still a bit lucky for despite the very cold weather it's a bright shiny day here, nothing but blue skies. But it won't last long. Apparently, it's going to snow tomorrow. That's what the Weatherwoman promised a while ago. Great, I love snow! But for a biker like Seb, he kinda hates it. It keeps him off his bike, hehe.

As I write this, I'm thinking of what to prepare for dinner -- I'm already sick and tired of the sausages and pig knuckles that we've been eating for the last two days and we're actually supposed to finish them tonight, imagine that. Well I think that we're just gonna eat out. We've been wanting to eat at Buffalo Grill, well mainly because we need to confirm the reservation we made for our daughter's birthday party. I know this could be done on the phone but I prefer to do it personally for I have lots of questions to pose and I wanna see the area/room where the party is going to take place. I'm sure that despite the brutal cold weather, the kids will be pleased to go out for a change.

The first Monday of Twenty Ten

Ah, it's so hard to get up in the morning especially when you know that the temperature outside is Absolute Zero! Hehe, sure am kidding, the thermometer outside showed -12°C. Seriously, it's quite cold I preferred to see ourselves curled up in our duvets till at least 9:00 o'clock. But no choice, classes resumed today.

With chilly mornings like this one, there's nothing as warming as a good fire in the fireplace, it was just indispensable. So even before preparing our breakfast, I lighted it to warm up the house and our bones as well. Nothing's cozier than having hot chocolate or coffee with still warm croissants in front of a crackling fire although we knew that, afterwards, we were about to confront that cold weather that gives you frozen nose hairs, lol. Some proofs, despite the blazing sun, we had an awful time defrosting the car windscreen and opening the gate's frozen locks.

When the kids left for school, I started removing the christmas decors. I don't know, but I felt bizarre. I mean, I felt a tinge of sadness when I started to remove the christmas balls from the christmas tree. As though that tree became a part of our family and that I'd be breaking my daughter's heart if I throw it away. I was hesitant at first I even tried putting them back on but then decided that I really had to do it today. Feeling guilty upon looking at the tree "naked", I caressed its branches and whispered 'goodbye'. Well, was it just a feeling or it's me who's odd?

I spent the rest of the afternoon vacuuming and changing the bed sheets I didn't realize it was already time to fetch our daughter from school. And little did I know that the day that started soooo cool would end up with me being so upset over some fat, ugly, hooked-nose witch's stupid remarks. Shite. Arghh! I need to cool it...

Back to normal

Christmas break is almost over. We're now on the first day of the year Twenty Ten. Classes start Monday as well as my normal daily routine. So there are things that need to be done today: do the ironing; check my daughter's school bag, re-verify if I didn't overlook anything, e.g., her homework, as she had tons of it; prepare her swimming bag as well as putting back her guitar in its case together with her lesson books and notebook; buy her a pair of rubber shoes that she's gonna use Thursday; review with her her lessons one more time as her teacher's giving tests Monday and make sure she knows her poem by heart, too. Etc.

I also got to concentrate on losing those extra grams that I gained during the holiday feasts. My weighing scale has been reminding me that there's a considerable amount of fat squatting my body. Yeah, I noticed. Because I'm starting to see hideous love handles again. Yuck. So after being so voracious during the fêtes, as though I were to go to a war, I need to go light again.
